After Kevin Costner battle, Stephen Baldwin arrested for tax evasion

Stephen Baldwin has had a pretty bad year, first losing a very public case against Kevin Costner, and now failing to file tax returns for 3 years.

According to a report in the LA Times, the Rockland County district Attorney has said that Baldwin owes in excess of $350,000 in taxes, which also include penalties.

The youngest of the Baldwin tribe failed to file any tax returns during 2008, 2009, and 2010.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. We've seen how US authorities deal with tax evasion. Just look what happened to Wesley Snipes.

Failing to provide tax returns for 3 consecutive years puts the actor in a difficult position, however proceedings must continue to allow a prosecution to resolve the matter, and to find out why he hasn't done so.

Baldwin's attorney, Russel Yankwitt defended him and released this statement:

“Mr. Baldwin did not commit any crimes, and he's working with the district attorney's office and the New York State Tax Department to resolve any differences,”

However, in retrospect, the District Attorney was not impressed and blamed the cutbacks and closure of local government as a result of wealthy residents failing to pay their taxes.
