Alyssa Milano launches Indiegogo campaign

Alyssa Milano turns to Indiegogo

'Charmed' actress Alyssa Milano has turned to Indiegogo to raise funds for young children with Leukemia.

The crowdfunding platform is an ideal outlet for people to gather small donations from around the world.

Milano's campaign is asking people to donate to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as a present for her child, Milo, who is about to turn 1. The money will go to help fund life saving treatment for infants. The actress was inspired to launch the campaign after being introduced to the parents of a 4-year old Peruvian boy who was suffering from leukemia for 2 years. The boy, named Gonzalito needed a bone marrow transplant but in Peru it was not possible. In America, the treatment would have cost $700,000 and his parents were desperately looking for a solution.

Milano asked St. Jude about the case and she found out they had begun to treat Gonzalito just a day later. It was a huge weight off the parents shoulders and finally this young boy would have the chance of a future.

The campaign has currently raised more than $2,800 and hopes to get a total of $50,000.

Alyssa Milano:

"For Milo’s first birthday, all I wish is that St. Jude can continue to provide this invaluable service for children...and for their parents who, without a doubt, would do absolutely anything for them. Thank you for helping to make Milo’s birthday special, in honor of our friend, Gonzalito."
