BRIDPORT, UK – British film students have the opportunity to win a £1000 grant to assist university tuition. The Future Filmmaker University Grant award invites local film students currently studying or starting film courses in 2010 to apply.
The grant, which is the first of its kind in Dorset will go towards helping future British talent succeed in the local film industry and is seen as a way to encourage youth to nurture their talents and succeed in a highly competitive industry.
The society committee stated: Bridport Film Society is one of Bridport’s oldest community organizations and it is the right time for it to return something to the community.
As the UK government brings sweeping reforms and painful cuts, the initiative is a great opportunity in difficult times for students, and will go a long way to help a passionate young filmmaker.
Film students wishing to participate must be based locally in Western Dorset to qualify for the funding.
Bridport Film Society’s 46th season of the best in world cinema begins in September. The new programme and applications will be available in August.
Students can download a grant application from www.bridportfilmsociety.co.uk
