From Brice

Born in Paris in 1991, I became interested in photography four years ago, but seriously took it up in July 2007. Considering photography as a way to capture some instants of my everyday life, my first approach of this art was purely personal and individual as it allowed me to keep memories from scenes that stood out as being unusual to me, but which seemed to be totally common and ordinary for people around me. I’m still working in the same way as I take photographs out of pure pleasure and passion (even when I work for clients, I enjoy it), without taking into account the fact that people following my work are probably expecting new pictures to be published. as i am self-taught, I appreciate preserving complete freedom in my personal work.
Beyond the pleasure I get from photography, I try to communicate a feeling, an atmosphere or the power of a personality through my photographs, while giving a certain priority to aesthetics. I consider it as a powerful vehicle of personal expression.
In my opinion, what makes a great picture is not only its composition but also the balance between the shapes, the colours and the textures. As I only use digital processing in moderation, I try to catch particular and ephemeral lights, hardly imitable by digital processing. Rather than technical and digital knowledge, I favour visual and mental reactivity, and the spontaneity of a picture, which is harder to capture but which creates more powerful images. I am 28 years old and from Germany. I have always been interested in the art of photography, but it thoroughly intensified about a year ago when I got my first SLR-camera. From that point forward my life revolved around photography, it inspired a certain will to live and gave me strength when there was nothing else left. Photography is my expressive way to scream, free myself…my way of life. I can express my feelings and work through rough and desolate moments, a way to cope with life. I want people to be able to, not just look at, but into my pictures and mind, and to leave behind the boundaries of mere words. My pictures mirror my soul, that’s what makes them so incredible and unique to me. Capturing life’s amazing moments, and making them immortal, is the absolute ultimate. I love working on my art, to sit in front of the computer and edit/create an even more beautiful reality; it’s amazing. Sure it is hard work, but while lost in this incredible world, time stops and half a night goes by in a flash without me even noticing. I am yet in the beginning stages of my photographer’s career, but I have big plans, and I am definitely on the right track to accomplish my goals. I hope my gallery is inspiring and you like it.

MEXICO – Photographer José Luis Haces is passionate about culture and captures the essence of life in his travels.

From José Luis,

Photography has been my great passion, along with music and travel, ever since I was very young. I’ve got my first camera at 18, when my father gave me a Pentax K1000. Soon I realize that photographs can tell stories, can capture feelings, but most importantly, they can make those moments last forever. Once I started to travel (I was born in the southern state of Veracruz, México, but I’ve lived in California and now Spain is my home) it all made sense. I have visited quite a few countries, in three continents, and I have enjoyed it when I came to realize that cultures may be different, but we’re all connected. I think these experiences have changed me, and it’s easy to see those changes in my work. Now, for example, whenever I go back to México, I see the richness of the culture, of the people, and I’m amazed by all the opportunities I get as a photographer; some scenes are unique.

I don’t consider myself a successful photographer. I have exposed some of my work, twice this year, I won 2^nd price in a national contest last summer, so I guess I’m on the right track.

Photography brings me happiness and I’m trying to return it to the people I’m photographing. I hope I’ll never have to say “I’m bored with my profession”, for now I’m far away from this statement, each shooting brings new experiences and lessons, like the most pleasant school in the world.

In the summer season I’m working a lot, photographing weddings, and mostly the luxury ones on the French Riviera, but not only that. It’s also the time of summer concerts and some press work for the agency I’m collaborating with – the World Entertaiment News Network (WENN) located in London, New York and Los Angeles.

By the end of the season I’m able to focus on some creative work, shooting models for their books and any other photographic requests like the The GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona held there each year or MIDEM in Cannes. Sometimes I visit Warsaw, my hometown where I always try to photograph someone from the artistic “millieu”, be it an actor, musician or journalist.

On my website you’ll find all my contact information – along with a regularly updated agenda. Soon I’ll create a new website for a wedding reportage only including my blog so that you’d be able to know me a bit better before (hopefully) picking me as your photographer.
