Film emerges of the Queen practicing Nazi salute By Iain Alexander / 18 July 2015 Queen Mary with Princess Elizabeth and Margaret, 1939 A film has emerged showing the Queen at a young age doing a Nazi salute. The footage was unearthed by The Sun and shows the Queen making the salute in 1933. The clip is just under 20 seconds long and was shot prior to the start of WW2, during the rise of fascism in Europe that led to conflict in 1939. Buckingham Palace was forced to respond to the film’s release saying it had been exploited and was part of, “Her Majesty’s personal family archive.” In the footage the Queen is playing with a dog in Balmoral and is then seen copying her mother in making a Nazi salute to the camera. She was between 6 and 7 when the film was taken. At the time Edward VIII, Prince of Wales, was pro-Nazi according to The Mirror, and even after the war broke out.
