The aftermath of a movie gun battle has become a police investigation after spent bullet casings were found on the set.

The Veteran , starring Toby Kebbell depicts the story of a soldier who upon returning from Afghanistan uncovers a criminal conspiracy. The gun battle was shot over 3 days in the derelict Heygate estate in south London. When a member of public stumbled on the bullet casings, police officers sent the shells for forensic analysis.

The Met Police issued a statement about the findings : "We can confirm police were called to Deacon Way, SE17, on Monday July 12 following the discovery of a small number of shell casings. The casings were subsequently confirmed to be blanks. Officers have spoken with a production that was filming in the area. Inquiries are ongoing. There have been no arrests."

Production company Foxtrot Films could face charges for not properly disposing of the blanks, which have caused unease in the local area. Brian Hamilton, spokesman for the company said : "We are a highly professional company and we abide by all the rules, and more."

Despite the controversy over the handling of the film shoot, this behind the scenes drama will no doubt encourage audiences to check out the film when it is released next year.
