'The Grand Budapest Hotel' edges closer in the Oscar race

7 features including 'The Grand Budapest Hotel' have advanced in the nomination process for the Makeup and Hairstyling Oscar.

After being voted one of the best films of 2014, Wes Anderson's latest masterpiece is getting more attention as we close in on the final Oscar announcements in January. Daniela Skala, Zoe Tahir, Emma Mash, Heike Merker, Julie Dartnell and Frances Hannon are some of the crew members that worked behind-the-scenes during the production.

The following 7 films now remain in the competition for the Best Makeup and Hairstyling Oscar:

  • 'Foxcatcher'
  • 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2'
  • 'The Grand Budapest Hotel'
  • 'Guardians of the Galaxy'
  • 'Maleficent'
  • 'Noah'
  • 'The Theory of Everything'
    • On January 10th members of the Academy's Makeup Artists and Hairstylists Branch will each review a 10-minute extract of the final 7 shortlisted films. After the screening, each member will give three nominations for the final Oscar consideration. Following this process, the remaining films selected after this review will be officially announced on January 15th 2015.

      The 87th Academy Awards will be broadcast live on ABC February 22nd 2015.
