HarperCollins announces first virtual Romance Festival

virtual-romance-festivalHarperCollins has unveiled the details of its first ever virtual Romance Festival, taking place on 7th and 8th June 2014. Celebrating all things romance, it’s an entirely virtual festival which will include Twitter interviews, videos, Google Hangouts, online content and lots of activity over the entire weekend.

The festival will feature authors from HarperCollins imprints in the UK and US – HarperImpulse, Avon UK and Avon US – as well as Mills & Boon, Piatkus and some indie authors. Its aim is to be as inclusive as possible and HarperCollins has issued an open invitation to all romance authors, indies and published alike, to get involved.

The programme has been devised with both romance fans and romance authors at its heart. The fan day will provide lots of news and insight into books and authors, whilst the author day will offer professional advice and support to aspiring and established romance writers.

Charlie Redmayne, CEO of HarperCollins UK said, “Romance has always been a vital part of our publishing here at HarperCollins. The festival is a great way to create more excitement around romance. It looks like they have a fun weekend planned and I hope fans discover lots of new authors and books.”

The festival will be free to ‘attend’, simply requiring people to register to be sent more details of the programme. You can sign up here

Sam Missingham, HarperCollins Head of Events said,

“Putting the Romance Festival together with the HarperImpulse and Avon teams has been great fun and I really hope fans and authors alike embrace it.”

The festival is supported by the Romantic Novelists’ Association. Find out more about the festival here: http://www.romance-festival.com
