After successfully crash landing a crippled US Airways jet onto the Hudson river, saving all the lives of those on board, hero pilot Chesley Sullenberger is heading to CBS.
America’s national hero will begin his new career on CBS as an on-air expert on safety and aviation.
The Hudson river crash was one of the early defining moments of human bravery at the start of America’s new political chapter with Barack Obama’s inauguration a few days after the event. Pictures of the dramatic rescue of passengers on the Hudson river were on the front pages of every newspaper in the world.
Many disaster films have used the theme of aviation to talk about human bravery and tragedy from planes breaking up in the sky, to crash landings with passengers trapped inside. Even plane hijackings and comedy are all embedded into aviation, which is a part of daily lives for many of the world’s travelers. However you don’t need to expect there to be a sudden invasion of snakes like in ‘Snakes On A Plane’.
Sullenberger (Sully) will be working for CBS News San Francisco, which is near his home of residence.
