J.J Abrams calls Dying Star Trek fan to make his wish come true

Star Trek director makes the call

Dan, a 41-year-old Star Trek fan has terminal cancer, and only a few weeks left to live. His wish before he dies is to see "Star Trek Into Darkness".

After a post from Dan's wife about his treatment and his wish to to see the new movie went viral on Reddit, Star Trek fan sites started to pick it up the story. It wasn't long before J.J Abrams and Paramount learned about his wishes, and decided to make his wish come true.

According to a close friend of Dan's, Grady Hendrix, founder of the New York Asian Film Festival, director J.J Abrams called his wife:

“JJ Abrams just called Dan’s wife and left a message. He’s going to try to arrange a screening for Dan, either of the film or at least of the 9 minute promo reel.” - via ABC

Although 'Star Trek : Into Darkness' will not be released until May 2013, producers are said to be working on arranging a special screening for Dan. With the film's post-production not yet complete, it is unclear whether Dan will be able to see the final release of the movie before it's too late but at least he will get a full preview.

This touching gift will bring enormous joy to Dan, a devoted Trekkie, and we hope that he gets to enjoy the thrills of the new Star Trek movie in style. Thanks Paramount!
