Jeremy Clarkson fired from the BBC's Top Gear show

Jeremy Clarkson has been fired from 'Top Gear' after an investigation took place following a punch up with one of the show's producers.

Clarkson had been suspended following an argument with 'Top Gear' producer Oisin Tymon while the BBC investigated the incident. It was announced today by the BBC's Director General that Clarkson's Top Gear contract would not be renewed.

The summary of the investigation into the fracas highlighted that Jeremy Clarkson used, "Derogatory and abusive language," directed against members of the Top Gear show production team on several occassions. He also launched a physical attack that lasted for "30 seconds." Producer Oisin Tymon then drove to A&E to get a physical examination following the fight.

Key MacQuarrie issued this statement today regarding the outcome of the investigation:

"Having conducted these interviews and considered the evidence presented, I conclude the following: on 4 March 2015 Oisin Tymon was subject to an unprovoked physical and verbal attack by Jeremy Clarkson. During the physical attack Oisin Tymon was struck, resulting in swelling and bleeding to his lip. The verbal abuse was sustained over a longer period, both at the time of the physical attack and subsequently."

It is unclear whether 'Top Gear' will continue in its current form, but recent live shows had been cancelled in Norway due to Clarkson's suspension.

The BBC faces a hefty bill running into the millions from several broadcasters who have bought rights to the show while Jeremy Clarkson faces an uphill battle to restore his credibility. It was only in the past few days that a petition launched on Change.org reached over 1 million signatures asking for him to be re-instated.
