Jurassic World is doing the impossible at the box office

Steven Spielberg's "Jurassic World" has just overtaken "Fast & Furious 7" to reach a staggering global box office total that makes several sequels inevitable.

"Jurassic World" opened to much fanfare at the beginning of the summer and took the world box office by storm, so far earning over $1.5 billion that puts it well ahead of "Avengers: Age Of Ultron" and just beyond the success of Vin Diesel's latest action outing without Paul Walker.

Currently Spielberg's highly anticipated adventure (Directed by Colin Trevorrow) has reached 4th place in the biggest grossing films of all time. Could we see it overtake "Avatar" in the near future?

With over $600m at the domestic box office, Spielberg, who predicted an industry implosion not long ago proved that demand for his films was as strong as ever. However, a string of box office disasters in the past few years from "After Earth" to the recent "Tomorrowland" has dented appetite for original blockbuster films.

Expect to see more sequels and spin-offs in the future. For now at least, this film has been a huge financial success and gets a big thumbs up from the fans.
