For Keira Knightley, the role of Anna Karenina hasn't been easy to interpret as she recently revealing the difficulty she had in dealing with her complex persona.
Starring in Joe Wright's movie adaptation 'Anna Karenina' Knightley spoke with the Daily Mail about how she felt about embodying her. She admitted that:
"I wanted to shake her and tell her to pull herself together. There were times when I thought, I really hate this person."
The complexity of the character added to Knightley's difficulty in dealing with her traits, but the collaboration with Wright has been a positive one. In fact, the movie is seen as an early contester for the Oscars next year. The two have teamed up in the past on 'Pride and Prejudice' and 'Atonement'.
Keira Knightley also stated that:
"You completely see where she's coming from, but you want to choke her at the same time because at no point can she see what is right in front of her."
With so much in-fighting it will be interesting to see how she has captured Anna's flaws when the film comes out next month.
'Anna Karenina' will be released in the UK on the 7th September.
