The Hurt Locker director Kathryn Bigelow is to direct a movie about the search for Osama Bin Laden up to the point where he is killed by US Navy Seals.
After winning Best Picture at the 2010 Oscars, Bigelow has a knack for capturing the intensity of war, and depicting powerful storytelling in her direction.
With news that Columbia Pictures is distributing the movie, the production is now reportedly greenlighted.
The film had been in preparation since 2008, before the whereabouts of Osama Bin Laden had been uncovered. The final draft of the script will incorporate the final chapter in the dark history surrounding the world’s most wanted terrorist.
Mark Boal, who is writing the script with Bigelow has a background in investigative journalism and worked with a bomb squad during the war in Iraq.
