Academy Award-nominated actor Woody Harrelson is going to make history in January with the production of the world’s first ‘live theatre movie’ that will be broadcast into over 500 cinemas.
The film will be shot in various locations around London and live-streamed as the action unfolds to cinemas in what is being billed as a world-first. ‘Lost in London’ will be filmed in 14 different locations with a cast of 30 actors according to Entertainment Weekly.
‘Lost in London’ will also co-star Willie Nelson and Owen Wilson. Harrelson, best known for his role in cult hit ‘Natural Born Killers’ claims he will “jump off waterloo bridge” during the movie.
Teaser for Lost in London
The story will be centered on a real-life series of events that led the actor to being jailed for a night 15 years ago in London. He is also writing and directing the production and admits the project is the craziest thing he’s done yet.
With Periscope, Facebook Live and now Instagram Live, streaming provides an entirely new technological step in a filmmaker’s toolkit where audiences can be brought into the action as it happens. In the coming years, live streaming movies could support the film industry as it looks for ways to preserve the theatrical experience while demand for VOD continues to grow.
Is this the future of filmmaking as we know it?
‘Lost in London’ will be broadcast live on January 19th 2017 from 4pm GMT.
