A look back at Iron Man 3 : Review

Iron-Man-3-review
Anyone who’s seen the Marvel Avenger series of movies knows that they are a tough act to follow. But, instead of wilting under seemingly insurmountable pressure, "Iron Man 3" surpasses all expectations, soaring even higher than its predecessor. In this way, it's quite like the Iron Man slots of the Euro Palace online casino which mixes the action themes of the movie together with the excitement of casino games. (not to mention the added thrill of winning money.)

This incarnation of the Iron Man franchise is a high-tech, massive scale detective story where Iron Man/Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) is tasked with investigating a number of attacks with links to his past. This trail leads him into a cat and mouse game with the Mandarin, the leader of the Ten Rings terrorist group. Iron Man 3 leaves being the excessive world building and the suit vs suit formula that damaged Iron Man 2’s reputation. Instead, this new sequel delivers a fascinating and fresh look at the hero and is an original and exciting adventure that make this movie a little over 2 hours worth of pure entertainment.

It’s spectacular to see Downey Jr. get back into a very changed character in Iron Man 3. The previous alien invasion affected the hero greatly and it’s evident in every scene. But, it doesn’t mean that this movie is dark, in fact, it’s quite the opposite. We see the return of the original Tony Stark, the one with the smart-ass attitude and ingenuity that rivals the gods. But, in this version, Tony’s values have changed and he’s not afraid to show his vulnerable side. In fact, the mere mention of New York and the events that took place are enough to make him have a panic attack. You are able to feel genuine empathy for him and it’s safe to say that this is Downey’s finest performance in a Marvel movie thus far.

Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) is another standout character in this movie. We see her and Tony’s relationship reach deeper levels than ever before. She even gets a chance to get in on the action. This holds true for James “Rhodey” Rhodes (Don Cheadle) who is not only Tony’s best friend but his US government counterpart, better known as Iron Patriot.

When it comes to the bad guys, The Mandarin and Aldrich Killian are the perfect antagonists for Tony, whether it be heroically, professionally, or personally. The only character in this intriguing plot that some may argue gets the short end of the stick is Maya Hensen, an old flame of Tony's. It’s her invention, an innovative medical serum dubbed Extremis, that plays an essential part of the story.

Shane Black’s directorial talent shines thru in this movie as well. It’s the first film he’s done in 8 years and his second in a little less than twenty. But, his ingenious directorial cues, and the resulting outcomes, are proof that true talent is something that you can never get rid of. His greatest strengths, which were honed by years working in the action niche, are perfect for this pre-established word in the Iron Man franchise. Furthermore, his penchant for witty dialog takes Tony’s sharp tongue to another level, which gives the film some laugh out loud moments.

All in all, Iron Man 3 is a rare thing in the cinematic industry. A sequel that’s learned from past mistakes and capitalized on the things that worked. This movie does a great job at embracing its universe without taking advantage of it or letting it bring the story down. In short, it’s able to give its hero a dangerous (and personal) challenge without losing its charm.

Besides being the first movie to follow the wildly successful Avengers, it not only had a responsibility to be great, but set the tone for what we can expect from the Marvel Universe in the future. And, it does a great job so it’s safe to say that this movie is a must see. But, until that happens, consider heading over to join the Euro Palace mobile casino for gaming on the go so you can give their Iron Man themed slots a try.

Iron Man 4 is currently in development and is rumored to get a 2019 release. Will you watch the sequel?
