Major setback for Star Wars Rogue One could delay release

It has been revealed that the new Star Wars production is not going well and will need long re-shoots before its next test screening.

According to a report in Page Six, Disney executives were not pleased with the 1st cut of the movie, directed by Gareth Edwards, and it will need an extensive re-shoot of at least 4 weeks. The film is currently set to hit cinemas on the 16th December but falls far short of the standard set by “The Force Awakens” and will, therefore, have to go back into production this July.

It is not impossible to foresee the film’s release being delayed if the re-shoots don’t improve the feedback at test screenings, although this outcome would be unlikely and highly unusual for a production of this scale.

Star Wars: Rogue One Teaser

Starring Felicity Jones, Ben Mendelsohn, Mads Mikkelsen, Donnie Yen and Forest Whitaker, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” was filmed in the UK and is set after “Revenge of the Sith” and will focus on the Rebel Alliance’s efforts to steal the Death Star plans.
