MTV Skins facing backlash from advertisers and PTC

MTV Skins backlash

After a parent’s TV watchdog condemned MTV Skins, advertisers have been pulling their ads from the show one by one.

In the latest disappointment for the network, Subway announced that they would not include advertising on its second episode. The teen show has been criticized and compared to televised child porn. The show, which delves into drugs, alcohol and teenage sex, faces a child pornography investigation from the US Government after the Parents Television Council started their campaign.

“We will continue to monitor every broadcast and every re-broadcast of ‘Skins’ so that we can inform the public which corporations are underwriting underage teen sex, underage teen drug use and underage teen alcohol use,” PTC president, Tim Winters stated.
