Should children be part of a media campaign?
The National Rifle Association has released a blistering assault on President Obama in a new video called ‘Stand and Fight’ that puts the spotlight on his children.
In aftermath of the horrific shootings in Newtown, a national debate has surged into a movement for change, which the current U.S administration has acted on. In light of legislative moves towards tighter gun control, the N.R.A have responded with strong opposition to any restrictions on gun owners.
The gun lobby is powerful and influential across America, but in ‘Stand and Fight’ the spotlight goes beyond the traditional debate of liberty, and draws in the safety of children.
“Are the president’s kids more important than yours?”
The video attacks Obama as a “hypocrite” when it comes to security drawing on the fact that secret service members can guard his children, yet he opposes armed guards at schools.
After the video was released, the White House strongly criticized it:
“Most Americans agree that a president’s children should not be used s pawns..”
While the debate for gun control will continue, would N.R.A members gladly approve of their children being featured in this advertisement?
