Robert De Niro, Diane Keaton cast in 'The Big Wedding'

CANNES - Robert De Niro, Diane Keaton, Katherine Heigl and Amanda Seyfried have been cast in the comedy The Big Wedding, it was announced today in anticipation of upcoming sales at the Cannes Film Festival, by Nu Image Inc./Millennium Films Co-Chairman Avi Lerner.

Justin Zackham, writer and executive producer of The Bucket List, will direct the all-star cast from a script he has penned. Producing will be Zackham’s Two Ton Films partner Clay Pecorin, as well as Richard Salvatore, Harry Ufland and Zackham. Executive producing will be Avi Lerner, Danny Dimbort and Trevor Short.

“Working with Diane and De Niro again will be great,” comments Lerner. “Katherine and Amanda are young talented actors. It is good casting. Justin’s script is well written and he is the right choice to direct. It is going to be warm-hearted funny film.”

Nu Image/Millennium Films holds the foreign rights to The Big Wedding aka Gently Down the Stream (working title). The film tells the story of long divorced Don and Ellie Griffin (De Niro and Keaton) who, for the sake of their adopted son’s wedding and his biological mother, pretend they are still married. The Griffin’s soon learn acting the happily married couple is not so easy. The family looks on in amusement as their past, present and future unravel for all to see, trying not to kill each other in the process.

"I'm excited to be able to continue what we started with on The Bucket List - iconic actors in a funny, adult, character-driven story, albeit with a little more sex and bad behavior on everyone's part. Nu Image/Millennium has been a great partner and I'm honored to have such an amazing cast," said Zackham.

The film is a co-production of Millennium Films and Two Ton Films. Production begins the middle of July in Greenwich, CT.

At Cannes this year available titles from Nu Image include The Expendables 2, The Big Wedding, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D, Medallion and Playing the Field. While in Cannes, Nu Image will be located at Riviera Stand F1. The may be reached by calling their Cannes office at +33 (0)4 92 993 312.
