Some familiar faces at the premiere included a radiant Salma Hayek, Antonio Banderas, Jude Law and Uma Thurman.
The opening ceremony was met with applause as Robert De Niro was introduced, and greeted the audience with a well-rehearsed speech entirely in French. De Niro, who was clearly overwhelmed with the honor managed to make a gaffe by saying it was the 75th Cannes Film Festival, before correcting himself. With a distinguished career, De Niro was invited to be this year’s President of the Jury.
In 1998, De Niro played ‘Sam’ in thriller ‘Ronin’ alongside Jean Reno and Sean Bean. The film was shot on location in France which included a scene in Cannes.
