shnit International Shortfilmfestival receives entries from 69 countries

The 2016 edition of the shnit Shortfilmfestival has attracted film entries from 69 countries as the deadline for submissions approaches on June 1st.

This year’s transnational film festival will take place in 8 cities around the world and recognize top filmmakers with the prestigious Flaming Faun award at a grand finale event in New York this October.

In its 14th year, the festival has become a major international event with participating cities strengthening the bond between filmmakers and local cultures. From Moscow to Hong kong, the shnit Shortfilmfestival is attended by over 30,000 people each year and aims to put talent at the forefront.

Filmmakers looking to enter their shorts can get a $10 discount which expires this Friday according to the latest newsletter released today. The festival also offers $100,000 in cash prizes to the winning shorts.

Every year the festival screens over 200 films during 12 days and provides an expanded program that supports skill development and networking in different countries. This year the festival will run workshops in Cape Town, Cairo, San Jose, Berne, Bangkok, Buenos Aires with more events to be announced later in the year along with the international jury.

This year’s shnit International Shortfilmfestival takes place between 5-16th October.
