Star Trek movie fans annual celebration in Riverside lacks funding

Star Trek fans are anticipating a sequel to JJ Abrams picture 'Star Trek' starring Chris Pine, but when it comes to their annual gathering, a sequel seems unlikely.

The annual Riverside Trek Fest event is lacking $10,000 in funding to hold the event, as the local council didn't have enough votes to pass it through. It was reported that the event lost money in 2010.

Despite the shortfall of funds, the very fact that the event has made the headlines proves that the fans have a big voice, and the event attracts attention to the region.
