'Star Trek : Renegades 2' with Walter Koenig crosses $300k in funding

Fan film “Star Trek: Renegades - Requiem to life” featuring cast from the original “Star Trek“ series and “Star Trek: Voyager” has crossed $300,000 in funding with just 3 days to go.

The sequel to “Star Trek: Renegades” will be directed by Tim Russ and feature Walter Koenig in his final performances as Chekov in a two part production.

Following on from the successful campaign of the original “Star Trek: Renegades” the sequel includes actors such as Terry Farrell, Robert Beltran, Aron Eisenberg and Adrienne Wilkinson.

More than 2500 people have pledged over $300k so far for the film which aims to keep “Gene’s vision alive.”

The first episode has been viewed more than 800,000 times and premiered on Youtube back in August with positive reviews. From special effects to performances, the original Renegades film is just a taste of what’s to come in the next sequence.

Thanks to the successful crowdfunding campaign of the original production, producers are on track to make the next two instalments with the support of sci-fi and Star Trek fans.
