Tom Cruise has revealed that he has put forward an idea for a possible sequel to "Edge of Tomorrow" but his co-star has other plans.

The actor, who is currently promoting his latest movie "Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation" spoke with MTV at the New York premiere and said that he had pitched the idea for a new movie to Doug Liman and Christopher McQuarrie.

"Edge of Tomorrow" earned just over $100m at the US box office and went on to gross $369 million worldwide.

Starring Bill Paxton, Brendan Gleeson and Emily Blunt, the original film, produced by Warner Bros received glowing reviews from fans and was deemed one of the best action movies of Tom Cruise's career. Critics also matched that enthusiasm giving the film a massive 90% approval on Rotten Tomatoes.

Cruise admitted that Emily Blunt was asking for another year before she could commit to a project but given the success of the first movie and the strong critical acclaim it received, we are likely to see more encouragement for "Edge of Tomorrow 2" in the coming months.
