Un Prophéte wins big at French Cesars

PARIS, France -  Un Prophéte received a standing ovation at the prestigious Cesar award ceremony last night. Winning in 9 categories including best film, Un Prophéte is somewhat of a huge success with a little known cast.

Jacques Audiard will have more to celebrate as he heads over to the Oscars this coming Sunday as Un Prophéte is contending for Best Foreign Film .

The French cinema industry is one of the largest in the world, with more than 230 films being produced each year. The French film industry is hugely subsidized by the CNC, which takes a percentage of cinema tickets nationally. France remains a very attractive country to shoot in as it has tax breaks, and many regional funds for national and international co-productions.
