Wild Bunch announced today that it has acquired international rights to Oliver Stone’s untitled film about Edward Snowden, which will star Joseph Gordon - Levitt in the leading role.

The deal was negotiated between Wild Bunch’s Vincent Maraval and Stone’s long –time producing partner, Moritz Borman.

The film is currently in pre-production in Munich and principal photography will begin in January 2015.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Snowden’s Russian lawyer, Anatoly Kucherena had sold the film rights to his upcoming novel, “Time of the Octopus” to Stone and Borman.
