Paramount has effectively delayed their Michael Bay pic 'Ninja Turtles' reboot by a year, but other releases have also been pushed back.
The reboot of the iconic Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles has now been pushed back to a May 2014 release due to script issues. Earlier this year, fans of the franchise were concerned that Bay was effectively re-writing the origins of the Turtles and denying the history and classic storyline that made it good. Bay sought to reassure fans that the story would be solid but it looks like the script is getting a major re-write. Is this a sign that the film was off-track from the start?
Brad Pitt epic World War Z and G.I Joe : Retaliation have also been delayed for other reasons.
Should movie fans get more input into the script writing process? As the web fan base for established films and fictional characters grow, it is easier for people to reach out to the studios with their opinions. In a way, this could alter the way development is done on movies, as fans effectively become 'consultants' from afar. What do you think?
